AIBAK (Pajhwok): Three suspects have been arrested by security forces for allegedly killing a tribal elder in northern Samangan province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Hashmatullah Rahmani told Pajhwok Afghan News a tribal elder left his home in a Corolla-type vehicle on Thursday evening after receiving a phone call and then disappeared.
He said the elder’s dead body was later discovered by security forces, with initial investigation suggesting he had been murdered.
According to the police spokesman, three suspects have been detained in connection with the incident, which is currently under investigation.
Rahmani attributed the murder to personal enmity.
The victim, Haji Mohammad Akbar Niazi, had been appointed as a transit agent for one of Samangan’s districts two years ago.
