8 Daikundi residents killed in Tajikistan coalmine blast

NEILI (Pajhwok): Eight residents of central Daikundi province have died as a result of a gas explosion in a coal mine in Tajikistan, authorities said on Sunday.

In a statement, the National Disaster Management Department said the incident happened inside a coalmine in the Sughd province of Tajikistan on Friday.

It said five of the victims were from Daikundi’s Shahristan district, two from Meramor and one from Ashtarly.

In coordination with the Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority, the department extended condolences to the victims’ families.

These victims were identified as Kazem Beigi, Abdullah Ahmadi, Hassan Alizada, Hossain Bakhsh, Mohammad Amir, Alijan, Qurban and Ismail Rahimi.
