KABUL (Pajhwok): Twenty-eight people have been killed and dozens wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a hospital in the Gaza Strip, the BBC reported on Wednesday.
The casualties came as Israeli warplanes dropped six bombs simultaneously on the European Hospital in Khan Younis, according to Hamas and other local sources.
While confirming the deadly bombardment, the Israeli military said the “precise strike” targetted Hamas members in a command and control centre beneath the hospital.
The injured included a freelance journalist working for the BBC in Gaza. After receiving medical care, the journalist is now in a stable condition.
Following the airstrike, Israeli drones maintained an aerial siege over the hospital, preventing rescuers from reaching the building.
Israeli media claimed the target was senior Hamas figure Mohammed Sinwar – the younger brother of the former leader of the group in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
