KABUL (Pajhwok): Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry announced that the planned meeting between the United States and Iran, scheduled to take place today (Friday) in Bürgenstock, has been cancelled.

According to reports, the White House announced earlier today that US Vice President J.D. Vance cancelled his planned trip to Switzerland to meet with Iranian negotiators.

The White House said the decision was made due to “logistical issues.”

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Iranian negotiators want to see signs of US implementation of an interim agreement before the next round of talks begins.

The agency also said there has been no confirmation yet regarding the Iranian delegation’s trip to Geneva.

Meanwhile, Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that the talks between Iran and the United States, which were scheduled to be held in Switzerland today, have been cancelled. The ministry did not provide further details.

It remains unclear when the Iran-US talks will be rescheduled.

On Thursday night, Al Mayadeen reported that the Iranian negotiating team had suspended its trip to Switzerland due to continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon.

The talks were expected to mark the beginning of a 60-day period for nuclear negotiations based on a recent memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
