PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed 10 percent processing fee on wide range of Afghan transit trade (ATT) items.
The fee is applicable to agricultural equipment, ship derricks; cranes, steam vapour generating boilers, industrial/laboratory furnaces and ovens, automatic data-processing machines and dozens of other ATT goods.
On Sunday, FBR expanded the list of items subjected to the 10 percent processing fee on ATT items. The board issued an SRO.816(I)/2025 to amend SRO.1380(I)/2023 for imposition of the fee on five major categories of goods.
According to The Business Recorder, the 10 percent fee was applicable to five major categories of goods covering confectionaries/chocolates, footwear, machinery (mechanical/electrical), blankets/home textiles and garments.
The Ministry of Commerce recently urged FBR to take measures to control the misuse of Afghan transit trade, including the smuggling of such items back to Pakistan, the newspaper reported.
