KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 13 people have been killed and 92 others wounded as a result of incidents caused by heavy rains and powerful storms in the Punjab province of Pakistan, a media report said on Sunday.
Dawn reported the heavy rains and dust storms lashed across several districts of the province on Saturday.
More than 10 people were killed due to “the collapse of dilapidated houses and being in unsafe locations” in various parts of Punjab, the newspaper, said, citing the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
A worker was killed and five others suffered serious injuries when the roof of a local factory collapsed due to high winds, according to state-run Pakistan Television.
One person was killed by a lightning strike. Several mud and dilapidated houses were also damaged by the storm.
Earlier on Friday, the PDMA had issued a warning about strong winds, dust storms and the possibility of rain in various parts of Punjab.
