KABUL (Pajhwok): The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) says it desires strengthening and expanding commercial ties with Afghanistan.
Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry Maulvi Ahmadullah Zahid met with Vice Chairman of CCPIT Chen Jianan, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said in a statement.
During the meeting, Chen Jianan said the council served as a bridge between the Chinese government and state-owned enterprises, aiming to connect domestic and international companies with China’s commercial opportunities.
He stated China maintained deep trade relations with many regional countries and desired to deepen and expand its trade ties with Afghanistan as well.
He emphasised that the council’s mission was to create collaboration opportunities for investors and enterprises, identify opportunities and strengthen links with government institutions.
For his part, Maulvi Ahmadullah Zahid said that China was one of the world’s leading economic powers and Afghanistan wished to benefit from Chinese expertise in industry, trade, investment and infrastructure development.
He added both countries could cooperate with Chinese companies and enterprises to establish industrial parks, special economic zones, export processing centres, cold storage facilities and modern industrial and agricultural laboratories across various regions of Afghanistan.
According to the ministry, representatives from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will soon travel to Kabul to further cooperation and coordination.
