KABUL (Pajhwok): A hideout of the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh, has been destroyed in 15th police district of Kabul, an official announced on Tuesday.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said two members of Daesh were also killed in the operation.
The sounds of light and heavy weapons were heard in Qasba area of 15th police district of capital on Monday evening.
However, later the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that operations were underway in the area, without providing further details.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told Pajhwok Afghan News today: “An operation was carried out last evening on a hideout of IS Khawarij in the area of the 15th district of Kabul city. As a result of the operation, when the enemy resisted, two of its members were killed.”
Without going to details, he said the weapons and ammunition stored at the centre were seized, the hideout was destroyed and “their plots and plans” thwarted.
