KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian media said Iran’s airspace has been closed to all flights until further notice following Israeli attacks on targets in Iran, with carriers scrambling to divert and cancel flights to keep passengers and crew safe..
According to IRNA, Mehdi Ramezani, Director of Public Relations for the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran, said that the country’s airspace has been closed until further notice following the announcement by the aviation authority.
Israeli officials on Friday said Iran’s nuclear facilities, ballistic missile production plants, and the country’s military commanders were targeted in airstrikes.
In response to the Israeli attack, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement that Israel had “unleashed its wicked and bloody” hand in a crime against Iran and that it would receive “a bitter fate for itself”.
Meanwhile, the UN Secretary-General, condemning escalations in the Middle East, expressed concern about Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and called on both sides to avoid at any cost a descent into deeper conflict.
