Kapisa families reconcile after 15 years of enmity

MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A 15-year-old feud between two families has been resolved after mediation of local officials, religious scholars and tribal elders in central Kapisa province, an official said on Wednesday.

Hafizullah, head of Jirgas of the Ethnic and Tribal Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the enmity between Noorullah and Baz Khan families surfaced 15 years ago over the murder of a girl in the village of Qurotak in the provincial capital.

“15 years ago, Noorullah’s daughter was murdered in her husband Baz Khan’s house, after which Baz Khan’s family fled to Baghlan province, and enmity arose between them”: he added.

According to him, Baz Khan had gunned down and killed his wife.

Baz Khan’s family was pardoned and both sides reconciled without paying blood money, Hafizullah explained.

On the other hand, Dadullah, a resident of Qurotak village, said this enmity was resolved through mediation by religious scholars, local officials and tribal elders.

“War is not the solution. It’s good that peace is made between them. Elders and tribe and clan leaders took authority from both families and made peace between them”.
