Poetical session held to prevent undesirable customs in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A poetical session to discourage undesirable customs was held by the Information and Culture Department in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.

Local officials, poets, writers, and poetry lovers from the province attended the event.

Head of Information and Culture Department Rafiullah Samim said poets and writers could fight against bad traditions, corruption, discriminatory behavior and divisions among people in society through their poems and writings.

He described the cultural situation in Logar as good and explained the activities of poets, writers, and culturist figures in this province had expanded beyond the capital, Pul-e-Alam, to remote districts, compared to the past.

The poetical session continued until late yesterday and poets, writers, singers, and literature lovers condemned undesirable customs in society in their poems, letters, and articles, and emphasized the government and people must fight together in this regard.

Some other poets and writers read out poems and articles in support of the existing system, but called on Islamic Emirate to address the problems and demands of the people.

Last month, a similar evening poetical session titled “Support for Poets” was organized by the Informationa and Culture Department.
