1 security man ‘mistakenly’ killed, another injured in Parwan

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Police say one security personnel was killed and another injured when inmates of a house opened fire on them due to ‘misunderstanding’ in Surkh Parsa district of central Parwan province.

Parwan Police Headquarters spokesman Fazlur Rahim Maskinyar said in a press release that the incident took place last night.

The statement said: “A few Mujahideen planned to carry out an operation without prior coordination. A family near the area, who has enmity, becomes suspicious and opens fire on the Mujahideen due to misunderstanding, resulting in the martyrdom of Mujahid Himmat  Badri, a resident of Paktika, and the wounding of another Mujahid.”

The suspects in the incident have been detained for investigation, the statement said.

Based on initial information, the police said, the incident was not a terrorist or security one, nor caused by any personal malice, but rather resulted from misunderstanding.

The press release stated that other rumors in this regard were baseless.
