PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Sixteen new telecom sites are being established in remote areas of six districts and the capital of central Logar province based on recommendations from the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MoCIT), an official said on Wednesday.
Sediq Ahmad Sediqi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the sites were being set up in areas currently deprived of telecommunication and internet services.
He added that surveys for the construction of the sites had already been completed, and work would begin in coordination with the provincial telecommunication department.
He also called on telecom companies to provide quality telephone and internet services to the public.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Sajid, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, said the people of Logar welcomed the government’s plan to expand telecom services.
However, he stressed that companies must ensure reliable and standardised services.
Last month during a visit to the province, Acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology also promised construction of 42 new telecom sites in the remote areas of the province.
