Kapisa families end 15-year-old enmity

MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A 15-year-old enmity between two families that had claimed two lives came to an end in central Kapisa province through mediation of scholars and tribal elders.

Hafizullah, head of the tribal councils, said that the enmity was between families of Abdul Qayoum and Ali Mohammad, Mia Khel and Anar Buta villages’ residents of Tagab district.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News what caused the enmity: “This enmity had been ongoing for 15 years, two people from each side had been killed. Their enmity originated from a dispute over a land plot”.

According to him, based on the jirga’s decision if any party violated the agreement, it will be fined five million afghanis.

Inamullah, son of Abdul Qayoum, whose brother Baryali was killed as a result of the enmity, said he was satisfied with the resolution of the conflict and explained: “We gave the authority to the jirga, we accept whatever decision was made. They killed my brother, we killed their brother, blood for blood is enough”.

Tribal officials added that 300 ethnic conflicts have been resolved in the province in last three years.
