Man harassing foreign tourists arrested in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested an individual accused of harassing foreign tourists in northern Kunduz province, police said on Monday.

In a statement, the police headquarters said security forces from the counter-terrorism department detained the man after a video of his actions recently circulated on social media.

It said the suspect had confessed to his actions and expressed deep regret, saying his behaviour was due to ignorance.

Police stressed that safeguarding national values, preserving the dignity of the people and respecting foreign guests were among their core responsibilities.

They warned that anyone acting against public security would be dealt with according to the law.

The police assured citizens that efforts to ensure the safety of their lives, property and honour would continue and no one would be allowed to disrupt the province’s secure environment.
