IEA delegation to attend Moscow Format meeting

KABUL (Pajhwok): A delegation from Afghanistan to be led by Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi will participate in the upcoming Moscow Format meeting for the first time as a member country.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Russian Ambassador to Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov met with Muttaqi.

Zhirnov briefed in detail the foreign minister about the participation of the Afghan delegation in the seventh Moscow Format meeting in October and said that Russia will welcome the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as a member for the first time.

According to the statement, Muttaqi described the IEA membership in the Moscow Format as an important and fundamental step.

He expressed hope that these regional frameworks will play an important role in building trust and positive development between Afghanistan and the region.
