Women among 13 publicly whipped in Kapisa

KABUL (Pajhwok): About 13 individuals, including six women, have been publicly whipped in central Kapisa province after being convicted of illicit relationship and elopement, the Supreme Court said on Sunday.

The Supreme Court said in a statement the 13 individuals had been convicted of moral corruption and running away from home by a primary court in the province.

It said they had been sentenced to 39 lashes each. The punishment was carried out after the Supreme Court upheld the ruling.

On September 26, a man and a woman were publicly whipped in central Maidan Wardak province.
