KABUL (Pajhwok): National Kurash athlete Mohammad Yahya Mohammadi has won a bronze medal, earning Afghanistan’s first medal at the Asian Games in Bahrain, an official said on Monday.
Syed Mahmood Zia Dashti, head of the Afghanistan Kurash, Sambo and Belt Wrestling Federation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mohammadi secured the bronze medal in the 65-kilogram weight category, finishing third in the division.
He said that two Kurash athletes and one coach had departed for Bahrain last Thursday to represent Afghanistan at the Asian Youth Games.
Meanwhile, another Afghan Kurash athlete, Rohullah Nazari, is scheduled to compete in the 83-kilogram weight category later today (Monday).
