Man killed as own explosives detonate in Kunduz

KABUL (Pajhwok): A man was killed when explosives he possessed went off in Kunduz city, the capital of northern Kunduz province, on early on Friday morning, police said.

Kundoz police spokesman Jumadin Khaksar wrote on his  X page a heavy blast was heard in the eight security district of Kunduz city at about 7:30am.

After the blast, police personnel rushed to the scene. Preliminary investigation showed the man wanted to transfer the explosives, which prematurely detonated, killing him on the spot.

Khaksar said the slain person wanted to implement a ‘malicious plan’, but was killed before he could do so.

The incident was being investigated and further details would be shared with the media later, he added.
