QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Two children have been killed in a cluster bomb explosion left over from past conflicts in western Badghis province, an official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Sediqullah Sediqi said the incident occurred in the Panirk area of Bala Murghab district on Sunday.
He added: “The children were grazing livestock when they found a cluster bomb and set it on fire, triggering an explosion that killed them.”
Unexploded ordnance and landmines left from previous wars remain scattered across many conflict-affected areas of the country, particularly in Badghis province.
