Danish Red Cross reaffirms commitment to supporting Afghans

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Regional Office of the Danish Red Cross for Asia and Europe has reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to supporting the people of Afghanistan, saying it plans to provide additional assistance through the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS).

In a statement, ARCS chief Shahabuddin Delawar said he held a coordination meeting with Joanna Radziukiewicz, Regional Director of the Danish Red Cross for Asia and Europe and Mohammad Sham, the organisation’s country representative in Afghanistan, to discuss joint humanitarian cooperation and services.

Delawar noted that coordinated efforts between the two institutions can further enhance the quality and impact of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.

He stressed that the ARCS welcomes any joint humanitarian initiative aimed at improving people’s lives.

Radziukiewicz reiterated her organisation’s commitment to supporting Afghans and said the Danish Red Cross intends to expand its assistance and services through the ARCS.

She praised the activities of the Afghan Red Crescent and pledged the provision of winter aid for earthquake-affected families in Kunar province.
