KABUL (Pajhwok): Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia will continue to strengthen its engagement with Afghanistan, underlining the importance of cooperation for regional stability, a media report said on Wednesday.
In an interview with The Tribune India, Peskov said: “We are building up our relationship with Afghanistan. We understand that we are counterparts there, and we need to discuss regional issues with them. We have shared interests in the region, and we will continue to develop our relationship with Afghanistan.”
He emphasized that Moscow views cooperation with Kabul as essential for maintaining regional stability.
Earlier, Russia criticised Western policies toward Afghanistan, including sanctions and the freezing of Afghan assets, calling them “confrontational.”
