LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Specialist doctors performed 500 free eye surgeries southern Helmand province during the past 10 days, an official said on Friday.
Helmand Public Health Director Dr. Naqibullah Fateh told Pajhwok Afghan News eye specialists from the Ministry of Public Health performed the surgeries at the province’s 50-bed Fatima Bayat Hospital over a period of 10 days.
He added that 7,000 eye patients visited during this period, with 580 patients undergoing laboratory tests. About 800 patients were given near-sighted glasses, and 500 others underwent free eye surgeries.
Fateh thanked the seven specialists from the Ministry of Public Health for their visit and requested the continuation of this series so that the remaining patients in the province could also benefit from this service.
It is worth mentioning that the process ended late yesterday.
