HERAT (Pajhwok): A young innovator in western Herat province has built a smart robot using limited resources, which can be controlled via voice, mobile phone and computer and is capable of interacting and executing various commands.
Mohammad Younus Jami, the creator of the robot, said the device can perform different movements, respond to voice commands and even communicate verbally.
He said the design and development process took around three months and was completed through self-learning with limited resources and funding.
Jami added that this was not his first experience in smart technology, as he has previously built smart household devices and a smart vehicle independently.
He said his aim is to promote a culture of innovation and encourage young people to engage in modern technology and creative work.
A number of young people in Herat welcomed the initiative and stressed the need for financial and moral support for such talents.
Meanwhile, Director of Information and Culture Mawlawi Abdul Matin Adil praised the achievement and said the department supports youth innovation and is working to provide opportunities for creative talents through cultural and educational programmes.
He added that the department is a supporter of innovators and the government also has comprehensive plans to support such talents.
