MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): The Brothers team has won the Maidan Wardak Eid Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament, defeating Zaid Malang in a closely contested final to emerge as champions among 64 participating teams, officials said.
Cricket officials in Maidan Wardak said the tournament featured 64 teams from across the province and concluded with a competitive final match.
Maidan Wardak Cricket Board head Mohammad Naser Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News that the final was played between Zaid Malang and Brothers, with the latter securing the title.
He said the Brothers team set a target of 151 runs in 20 overs, but Zaid Malang fell short of the chase and were bowled out for 142 runs.
Meanwhile, several players welcomed the successful organization of the tournament, saying it created an exciting atmosphere for cricket fans and provided young players with a valuable opportunity to showcase and develop their skills.
They urged the relevant authorities to organize similar tournaments in the future.
