Iran caused greater damage to US bases than previously disclosed: Report

KABUL (Pajhwok): Sources close to US government institutions say the damage caused by Iran’s attacks on American targets exceeds $5 billion, while American media report that the true scale of the losses is significantly greater than publicly acknowledged.

NBC News reported on Saturday, citing informed sources, that Iran has inflicted more extensive damage on US bases and military equipment across the Middle East since the start of US and Israeli strikes against Iran on Feb. 28.

According to the report, more than 100 targets at 11 US military bases in several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, were struck during Iran’s retaliatory attacks. Initial estimates put the damage at more than $5 billion.

However, sources told NBC News that the full extent of the losses has been withheld from the public.

The report added that the actual damage caused by Iran’s retaliatory strikes is far greater than what has been officially disclosed.

According to available reports, 13 American service members were killed and nearly 400 others were wounded in the attacks.
