Mali’s defence minister killed in coordinated attacks on military sites

<p style="text-align: justify;">KABUL (Pajhwok): Mali’s Defence Minister, General Sadio Camara, has been killed in coordinated attacks on military sites across the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Al Jazeera reported that the attacks took place on Saturday in multiple areas, including the capital Bamako and several other cities, further worsening the security situation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Military sources said several installations and bases were targeted, with clashes still ongoing in some areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Reports indicate that armed groups linked to al-Qaeda, along with some Tuareg rebels, have claimed responsibility for the coordinated assaults across multiple provinces.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Malian military officials said that although parts of the attacks were repelled, the security situation remains fragile, and clearance operations by government forces are continuing in several regions.</p>
