<p class="p1">KABUL (Pajhwok): The UK Special Envoy for Afghanistan has expressed concern over recent violence along the Durand Line, including Pakistani military attacks in eastern Kunar province.</p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Pakistani military carried out attacks on Monday afternoon this week, targeting parts of central Kunar as well as the districts of Marawara, Dangam, and Sheltan.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The University of Sayyid Jamaluddin Afghan was also among the reported targets.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Reports say that as a result of the strikes, seven civilians were martyred and 75 others, including women and children, along with 30 students, were injured.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Meanwhile, Richard Lindsay, the UK Special Envoy for Afghanistan, said in a post on X that all necessary measures must be taken to protect civilians and prevent further escalation of the situation.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He called on both sides to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue, stating: “I also call for dialogue and restraint, including in meetings this week in Afghanistan.”</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">This comes after Lindsay told journalists in Kabul on Thursday that his visit to Afghanistan was “useful and productive,” adding that in meetings with Islamic Emirate officials he had stressed the need for Afghanistan and Pakistan to return to dialogue and diplomacy.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He said Afghanistan and Pakistan must take important steps to resolve their disputes.</span></p>
