   Kazakhstan’s grain exports to Afghanistan surge over fourfold

KABUL (Pajhwok): Kazakhstan’s grain exports to Afghanistan increased more than fourfold in the first quarter of 2026, a media report said on Monday.

The Kazinform International News Agency reported that shipments to Afghanistan reached 302,000 tonnes during the period, a 4.2-fold increase compared to the same period last year.

Overall, Kazakhstan’s grain exports rose by 18 percent to 3.2 million tonnes, while domestic shipments stood at 0.9 million tonnes, an increase of 8 percent.

The report added that Kazakhstan plans to establish new grain processing facilities with a combined annual capacity of 5.8 million tonnes by 2028.
