KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has condemned the killing of Mawlana Mohammad Idris, a religious scholar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as the work of enemies of Islam and religious scholars.
According to reports, Mawlana Mohammad Idris was killed in an armed attack on Tuesday morning in the Utmanzai area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No group has so far claimed responsibility.
In a statement, the IEA strongly condemned the incident.
The statement said: “It is with deep sorrow that we learned Sheikh-ul-Hadith Mawlana Mohammad Idris, a senior teacher at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, Peshawar, has been martyred. The Islamic Emirate condemns this attack in the strongest terms and considers the killing of religious scholars the work of enemies of Islam and the ulema.”
The IEA described his death as a great and irreparable loss to the academic community, religious scholars and the wider Islamic world.
