Iran to accept only ‘fair, comprehensive agreement’ with US: Araghchi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi says his country will only accept “a fair and comprehensive agreement” in its negotiations with the United States.

He made the remarks at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday, Tasnim News Agency reported.

During the meeting, Araghchi said China was a close friend of Iran and that bilateral “cooperation will become even stronger under current circumstances.”

“We will do our best to protect our legitimate rights and interests in the negotiations … We only accept a fair and comprehensive agreement,” he added.

He noted: “The war launched against us is an open aggression and a clear violation of international law.”

For his part, the Chinese foreign minister said the US and Israeli war against Iran was “illegitimate and illegal”, adding that Beijing was ready to continue efforts to reduce tensions.

Wang Yi also said that achieving a full ceasefire was necessary and inevitable.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beijing, the capital of China, at around 3:00am on Wednesday, leading a diplomatic delegation.
