KABUL (Pajhwok): At least five people died in a fire at a fairground in the southeastern Mexican city of Villahermosa on Thursday, authorities said, after a massive blaze broke out during a concert attended by thousands of people.
Civil Protection officials said the fire erupted early Thursday morning and has since been brought under control. Authorities said the cause of the blaze remains unknown.
Images shared by media outlets and on social media showed dozens of people fleeing the area as thick black smoke covered the sky.
Tabasco Governor Javier May expressed condolences to the families of the victims, saying some of those killed were exhibition vendors who were unable to escape in time.
He added that an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the fire and that authorities were preparing financial assistance for affected traders and businesses.
