Afghan, Uzbek officials discuss expanding trade, industrial cooperation

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) says a bilateral meeting was held in Kabul between Afghan and Uzbek officials to expand economic and trade ties, promote cooperation in light industries, and attract joint investment.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry said the meeting was held between Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Nazimjan Kholmurodov, Head of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed cooperation in cotton cultivation and processing, yarn and textile production, shoe manufacturing, and the possible relocation of Uzbek factories to Afghanistan, along with expanding trade in related products.
