PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least 11 people have been killed and dozens of houses damaged after flash floods hit northern Baghlan province.
Hedayatullah Hamdard, head of disaster preparedness at the Baghlan Natural Disaster Management Department, told Pajhwok that floods struck Burka district overnight, killing 11 people and destroying 40 houses.
He added that floods in Burka, Dand-e-Ghori, Deh-e-Ghori, and Khwaja Hijran districts also caused financial losses to local residents.
Hamdard said provincial authorities have convened an emergency meeting to collect accurate information and coordinate relief efforts.
He added that assistance to affected areas will begin after the meeting.
