KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) says electricity generation at the Naghlu dam has reached its highest level in the past 17 years due to recent rainfall, increased water reserves and the resolution of technical issues.

In a video message posted on X, the power utility company said electricity production at the dam had increased significantly following widespread rainfall in recent months, a sharp rise in water levels and effective management of water resources.

According to DABS, the dam generated 116,000 megawatt-hours of electricity during the first two months of the current solar year.

Eng Ahmad Bashir Sahak, head of the Naghlu dam power plant, said engineers and technical staff had resolved all technical problems affecting machinery and electricity generation equipment, playing a key role in boosting production.

He said all four turbines at the dam were currently operational and functioning at full capacity.

Sahak added that favourable rainfall and improved water management had created conditions for maximum utilisation of the dam’s production capacity.

Officials expressed hope that electricity generation would continue at a satisfactory level in the coming months if the current conditions and technical readiness of equipment were maintained.
