KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 46 people have been killed and more than 70 others injured following an explosion at an explosives depot in Myanmar, media reports said.
According to Al Jazeera, the blast occurred on Sunday in the Kaung Tat area of Shan State, near the Chinese border.
Local news outlet The Irrawaddy reported that the victims included six children. More than 70 people were wounded in the explosion.
The report said the blast caused extensive damage to several residential houses, while search and rescue teams continued efforts to locate any additional victims.
Local authorities said an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the explosion. Officials added that anyone found responsible would be referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities.
