KABUL (Pajhwok): A delegation from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has visited central Panjshir province, where the organization plans to convene a meeting aimed at expanding development programs and strengthening coordination among national and international partners.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Panjshir Provincial Media Office, representatives from UNAMA’s Central Zone Office met with Panjshir Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim during their visit to the province.

Hakim welcomed UNAMA’s efforts to support development initiatives in Panjshir, emphasizing that the province, like other parts of Afghanistan, enjoys a secure environment conducive to the implementation of development projects.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of local authorities to attracting infrastructure and development investments, pledging full cooperation with national and international organizations working to improve the welfare of Panjshir’s residents.

During the meeting, UNAMA representatives said the mission intends to bring together all United Nations-affiliated organizations operating in Panjshir, along with local officials, community elders, and religious scholars.

The gathering will focus on identifying development priorities, expanding new initiatives, and ensuring that projects are implemented in line with the needs of local communities.

The statement added that UNAMA’s headquarters will organize a major development coordination meeting at the request of the Panjshir provincial administration.

The event will bring together representatives of national and international organizations to discuss and support the expansion of development programs across the province.
