KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says it has returned more than 58 tonnes of substandard construction materials to the exporting country from Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port.
In a statement, ASQA said that, as part of efforts to prevent the entry of low-quality goods into the country, two consignments of ceramic tiles weighing a total of 58.1 tonnes were rejected at Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port after failing to meet national standards and were sent back to their country of origin.
The authority added that it continues to block the import of substandard goods and is taking practical measures to ensure product quality, safety, and consumer confidence.
Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port is located in western Farah province along the Afghanistan–Iran border and is considered one of the country’s key commercial crossings.
