KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 15 people have been killed and several others injured in reciprocal attacks between Russia and Ukraine, media reports said on Sunday.
According to the Associated Press, citing Moscow-installed officials in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian strikes on holiday camps killed 12 people, including four children, and injured 19 others. Ukraine has not commented on the claim.
Meanwhile, officials in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region said a Russian drone strike on a civilian facility killed three people. They said the victims were drivers working for the private postal and delivery company Nova Poshta.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said the target of the attack was a facility in Sumy used to store and launch Ukrainian drones.
In another incident, Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said a Russian drone strike on a shopping centre caused a major fire covering about 500 square metres and injured several people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday that intelligence assessments suggested Russia was preparing missiles for a large-scale attack, warning that it could happen within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, a White House official said US President Donald Trump is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington on Tuesday, though Kyiv has not yet confirmed the meeting.
