MoPH, AHDS sign $3m maternal healthcare deal

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Afghanistan Health and Development Services (AHDS) have signed a contract worth more than $3 million to provide maternal healthcare services in four provinces.

In a post on X, the ministry said the agreement includes the establishment of 85 health posts in Uruzgan, Nimroz, Kandahar and Helmand provinces, benefiting 372,999 people.

The project will also create employment opportunities for 626 health workers, the ministry added.

It said the one-year contract aims to improve the quality of healthcare services, expand public access to medical facilities and address health challenges faced by local communities.

AHDS representatives assured officials that the project would be implemented according to required standards, with special focus on meeting the healthcare needs of the population, the statement added.
