KABUL (Pajhwok): Three Afghan nationals have been shot dead and another wounded by unidentified gunmen in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, reports say.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in the Hazarganji area, BBC reported.

Khizar Hayat, a deputy police commander in the area, said the four Afghans had travelled to Quetta from Dalbandin in Chagai district and planned to go to Gulistan in Qila Abdullah district.

He said the four were waiting in the Hazarganji area on the outskirts of Quetta to travel to Gulistan when two armed men on motorcycles arrived and opened fire on them.

Two of the Afghans were killed on the spot, while the other two were taken to hospital. One of the wounded later died during treatment.

The official said preliminary investigations showed that the men had been working for someone in Dalbandin and had travelled to Quetta before heading to Gulistan.

He said the motive for the attack remained unknown and an investigation was underway.
