KABUL (Pajhwok): Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on Saturday as diplomatic efforts continued to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
The closed-door meeting lasted more than three hours, The Associated Press reported.
Putin’s foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, described the talks as “constructive, candid and useful” but gave no details about the outcome.
Russia and Ukraine have also agreed to halt attacks on each other’s capitals, according to the report.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv was prepared to refrain from attacking Russia during the negotiations.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin had ordered a three-day suspension of attacks on Ukraine from midnight Saturday.
Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday, their first visit to the Ukrainian capital since the peace process began.
