KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Thursday condemned a suicide car bombing that killed four civilians and wounded 36 others in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province.
The explosion took place at around 10:40am in front of the Afghanistan Department offices. Foreigners were among those wounded in the attack.
The British Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) said the blast targeted a convoy of its civilian employees, injuring two foreigners and destroying two vehicles.
President Karzai denounced the assault as an inhuman and un-Islamic act of Afghanistan’s enemies, who targeted civilians and inhibited areas.
A statement issued from the Presidential Palace said such attacks only created hatred against the perpetrators. Karzai extended his deep condolences to the victims’ families and prayed for the early recovery of the wounded.
