KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Nearly a dozen people were killed and several others wounded in a roadside bombing in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Sunday.
Eight policemen and three detainees were among those killed by the improvised explosive device explosion in the 5th police district of Kandahar City, the governor’s spokesman said.
Javed Faisal told Pajhwok Afghan News that at least six policemen were wounded in the overnight attack in Qalacha area, where a bomb was discovered and defused before the blast.
He said three suspects had been arrested in connection with the bombing. The detainees were currently under investigation, the spokesman added. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Also on Saturday evening, 10 people were killed and 19 others wounded in a suicide attack in the northern province of Kunduz province. The dead included provincial counterterrorism and traffic police officers.
