KABUL): Fourteen militants were killed during separate incidents in several parts of the country over the past 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.
A commander was among six militants killed during two separate airstrikes by foreign troops in the Giro district of southern Ghazni province, 203rd Thunder Military Corps said in a statement.
It added another three rebels were killed in Garda Serai district of southeastern Paktia when a missile exploded prematurely.
Four militants were killed in separate clashes with Afghan security forces in Qala Wali and Qorghal areas of Tagab district of central Kapisa province, the district police chief, Mohammad Noor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Elsewhere, a local policeman and an insurgent were killed during a gun battle on the outskirts of Sar-i-Pul City, the capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province, police said. Deputy police chief Col. Sakhidad Haidari said another three insurgents were injured during the firefight.
