The Lithuanian PRT, which functioned within the Regional Command-West since 2005, assisted the Afghan government to extend its writ throughout Ghor, helping to ensure a safe environment for the reconstruction, training and mentoring of the ANSF.
It executed more than 200 projects and financed education and infrastructure development programmes in response to needs of the Ghor community.
In the security sector, the Chaghcharan PRT trained more than 2000 Afghan soldiers and patrolmen, enhancing their planning competency and operational capabilities,” the statement added.
At the ceremony, Regional Command–West (RC-W) commander Brig. Gen. Ignazio Gamba was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Republic of Lithuania. He thanked the soldiers and civilians of the PRT.
