Afghanistan beat Tajikistan in a friendly match

Afghanistan beat Tajikistan in a friendly match

KABUL national volleyball team defeated its rival Tajikistan team by 3-0 in the first match of the friendship cup played in the capital Kabul on Thursday, an official said.

The match was held in the gymnasium of national Olympic committee. The volleyball federation chief, Muhammad Younas Popalzai, said the match was aimed at improving the capacity of the players.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News both teams would play three matches during the week-long competition.     

“Any team posted two victories will be declared as winner of the friendship cup,” he added.    

He added this was the first time such competitions were hosting by Afghanistan, adding they were planning to invite more foreign teams into the country in future to promote volleyball sport in Afghanistan.   

The Olympic committee head, Lt. Gen. Kiramudin Kiram, while describing such competitions productive, said: “This show that Afghanistan is moving toward peace and stability.”

Deputy information and culture minister, Muhammad Nabi Farahi, said such initiative could play positive role in improving relations among countries.
