KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council (NSC) on Wednesday formed a committee to investigate the Paktika governor’s allegations that NSC advisor had distributed $200,000 to the families of Islamic State (IS) fighters in the province, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

The decision was made during NSC meeting held on Tuesday night, which was chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the statement added.

Deputy NSC advisor briefed the house about Paktika Governor Abdul Karim Matin allegations and termed them baseless and far from reality.

The committee, to investigate the matter, will be headed by Interior Minister Noor-ul-Haq Ulumi, with others members include the justice minister, refugee minister, deputy speakers of senate and lower house, head of the defence affairs commission, Director National Directorate of Security (NDS), Deputy Attorney General and head of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).

The Security Council also discussed recent terrorist attacks in Nangarhar, Badakhshan and other parts of the country and issued stern directives to authorities concerned to improve law and order.

The council also tasked president’s advisor on economic affairs to hold talks on economic cooperation agreement with European Union.
