QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A child was killed by a roadside bomb blast in the Bala Murghab district of Badghis province on Friday, police said.
The 12-year-old was grazing sheep when he stepped on a mine that went off in Joy Ganj area, killing him on the spot, police chief, Col. Mohammad Jabbar, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He blamed the Taliban for planting the bomb against foreign and local forces.
A tribal elder, Nooruddin, said the boy was taking his animals to home from a nearby pasture when he found a landmine. He was playing with the bomb when it detonated, he said.
