JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least five Taliban fighters have been killed in a US drone strike in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the strike took place late on Monday, killing five militants, including their commander Qari Hidayatullah.
Separately, the Taliban attacked police in the Trili locality of Chaparhar district, police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said.
He said police did not suffer causalities in the attack and arrested three Taliban, one of them in injured condition. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
